Baby it's Cold Outside

What a few days mean in the growth of a six week old! Vincent is no longer a floppy-headed baby. Within a two-day period he has gained the strength to contort his body into a tiny melon-sized bundle when I pick him up. "What's goin' on buddy?" and his legs tighten to his chest, his arms fold like a pretzel and I lift him up into the air. It goes along with every natural instinct of mine to prop him on my shoulder and pat his back without worrying his head will get buried in my shoulder without air. It makes "burp-time" that much more rewarding.

As I was feeding him this morning, I realized how many 0-3 month old clothes we have for him that have yet to be worn. He's been living in onesis since the day he was born and suddenly Houston gets a cold-front and mom wants to play dress-up. The changing of the seasons is an added reminder of how time goes by so quickly when you have a baby: new clothes, new worries ("will he be warm enough?,,,how should I dress him tonight?...are his little hands too cold? do they even make baby gloves?"). Through all the internal questioning he's been a patient sport: kind of like a new roomate - he seems to consider our dilemmas while we are figuring out how to make him feel at home.

But don't be surprised if I do a multi-pictured fashion show in the near future.
