Vincent has become more animated since last week. He also has reached several milestones (not 'technical' milestones like graduating college, but milestones to his dad and me).
Last week Edwin and I were making Vincent smile and we laughed at his toothless grin. Suddenly Vincent's smile got bigger and his little belly started tightening and he let out the most wonderful giggle. His first giggle. It was barely audible, which made it difficult for Edwin and me to hold back our laughter waiting for his next breath. But eventually his giggles were too much for Edwin and me; we started laughing harder and that made Vincent laugh louder - it was a never ending cycle of belly laughs that left Edwin and me in tears and Vincent wondering what the commotion was all about. He has since only made a handful of these giggles. But that has not stopped us from continuously performing our stand-up comedy routine in hopes of another great giggle.
Our living room is still increasingly lively. Vincent loves to chat - to whom, I have yet to discover, but they seem to keep him occupied and happy. He's also testing out newfound voice octaves and ranges. I hope this doesn't hinder his musical abilities in the future. A few days ago I was in my office and heard a new sound: sort of like a "klop, klop, rrrr...klop, klop, rrr.." I peaked around the corner and saw Vincent sitting in his bouncer, desperately trying to connect his fist to his mouth. He had a look of open-mouthed determination while his close-fisted arm jutted back and forth between his cheek and nose. "Almost, buddy...you got it... awww - good try....wait...oh...there it is.....awww."
Just yesterday he had given up on the fist and found an easier, larger target to chew on:
