Vincent, Vincent, Vincent!

Sorry I haven't written in a while. It's not because I've lost interest in blogging; it's because so much has been happening! Vincent had his 6 month check up last week:

Height - 27.5 in (80%)
Weight - 16.14 lb (40%)
Head Circumference - 17.25 in (50%)

Deductively - he is the perfect baby! Tall, lean and a good noggin'. Once again, did you expect anything less from us?

Vincent is now eating solids: bananas, peaches, pineapple, mixed berries, turkey & sweet potatoes, ham, veal, & chicken... My shopping experience for his food is fun. I always feel like I'm making decisions on big ticket items. There are so many different combinations of food; apples and cherries, pears and pineapples, sweet potatoes and turkey, apples and chicken... I'd pick one up, see another one, put the first one back...pick up another, stand back and look again... all the while thinking, "will he like the one with the peaches?..better not get the prunes again - he was pooping for two days straight..."

So as I'm scanning the vast array of choices, I come across the flavor: Vannila Pudding Desert. OK - this is a six month old baby, mind you. He only eats fruits in morning, vegetables and meat for lunch and rice cereal for dinner. When in the world would I find time to feed him desert? Would he know it was desert if I fed it to him after dinner? At only six months, is this the beginning of where parenting can go awry? "Hey hon, has he had breakfast?"

"Yeah - I fed him desert."

I decided he will not have desert until he knows what desert actually is.

On another note - Vincent is a physical genius. Oh, yes. He's not interested in the remedial task of crawling. Why crawl when you can stand? We noticed that when we would lift him up onto our laps. he would straightening his legs tight and want to stand. He's now graduated to standing on floor (with a little balancing help from mommy and daddy). He loves it! But when we put him down on his tummy to crawl, he'd rather lift his head and look around, or sleep. I even tried positioning his little legs into the crawling position - not interested. Edwin and I think he's either going to skip the crawling phase or continue to be just plain lazy :) (we're opting for the former).

Edwin and I are also looking forward to his first tooth popping up. I am now checking his mouth on a daily basis based soley on the fact that he is now considered Mr. McDrooly-Pants. Drool everywhere, all the time. I even try and keep him in a bib all day to help catch the copius amounts of drool. Aside from the drool factor, everything in the world is one big taste test to this boy. He immediately tries to put everything from my his foot to my pony tail into his mouth. It's funny to watch him: as soon as his hand is on an object, his mouth opens and his whole body leans towards the item. He tried to eat a book yesterday.

New Video to come shortly!
