Oh how I love the month of May! The weather starts heating up and the long and lazy summertime days are creeping nearer. Not to mention the fact that I have two, count them; two special days this month that are dedicated to my lovliness - Mother's day and my Birthday!
Technically, this was my second Mother's Day. Last year Edwin showered me with Mother's Day love while Vincent, the size of a lima bean at the time, was growing inside my ever-expanding tummy. This year, even though Vincent wasn't ready to sign his name on a card, his signature was left in the special form of pungent diaper loads and wacky faces. It was wonderful day and a wonderful feeling.
We went for a family stroll through the mall, people watched and pretty much stared at Vincent's expressions as we weaved in and out through lots and lots of strangers. He's definitely an observer: very quiet and pensive when things get interesting. He doesn't care much for being the center of attention. We learned this as Edwin and I looked at each other in confusion wondering whose kid was screaming in the food court, only to look down and see it was ours: screaming at the lady at the chinese food counter. She evidentally gave him the wrong look...or maybe she didn't get his order right, we're still not sure.
The most memorable feeling of that day was when Vincent and I rode the carousel. As we climbed aboard and sat in one of the 'carriages', I thought, "he's probably too young to get what's going on here, I hope he doesn't freak out by the blinking lights and all the wax-like animals staring at us as we go round and round and there's daddy...wait...he's gone.... oooh, there he is again!....and wait... he's gone....
Well, at least there weren't any clowns.
But to my suprise, he absolutely loved it! He stood on my lap and leaned back on my shoulder. He giggled at the lights and swaying movement - all smiles. At one point, he turned his head towards me and with an open-mouthed 'gaffaw'-like expression, pressed his lips against my cheek. My heart melted - my mind flickered: "kisses". My first kiss from my wonderful son on Mother's Day. I couldn't of asked for anything more.
My 26th Birthday was wonderful as well ;). We took Vincent to an outdoor mall and bought him a new hat (pictures to follow).
