Wow - so I can't believe it's been over three months since I've posted. Even more shocking is thinking that three months to my former twenty-something self would of been no big deal. I maybe would of gotten a new hair cut to talk about or found a new favorite restaurant to share. Now, with an almost two year old, three months feels as though I've been closely supervising the transformation of a butterfly. There's not enough words to describe the phenomenon.
Three months ago, Vincent was just learning the meaning of "upstairs" and "outside". He only had two hair cuts in his life and he got by with one pair of sneakers. His favorite foods (and only ones he would touch) were: macaroni and cheese, cheese puffs, bananas, grapes and the occasional peanut butter and jelly sandwich. He was painfully shy around strangers and even took a few days to warm up to Nani and Buelito. "Momma's boy" was creeping into his vocabulary.
Now.....
"Are you hungry, Vincent?"
*Vincent, places his thumb to his index finger and rubs his chin a few times*
"Do you want a sandwich?"
*Vincent shakes his head from side to side -"no"*
"Do you want some yogurt?"
*Vincent smiles and points to his 'yogurt sippy-cup'*
Since we've been teaching him both Spanish and English, Vincent has been taking his time with pronouncing words correctly. Instead, he likes to utilize sign language. The past month has been short of amazing watching him learn. Suddenly, we have a little person in the house that has opinions and wants what he wants! And he 'tells' us! It's indescribable seeing this transformation. I am so proud but also kinda sad to see him grow up at the same time.
Vincent has always been a fun baby. Which is why I should of known he'd grow into 'my silly little man'. He entertains me constantly. Yesterday, I walked into the living room to find him frantically turning in circles and laughing until he lost his balance and ended up on the floor - still laughing. I was making the bed today and when I bent down to pick up another bedding article off the floor, he would take something off the bed and put it on the floor - this went on back and forth until we would both be laughing hysterically - and the bed still not fully complete.
When I am cleaning the house, he likes to find objects he thinks would help, "Thank you for bringing me my hair brush, Vincent! You are very thoughtful." A few moments later, "Oh, thank you for bringing me my camera and a pen. That's very sweet of you." Needless to say, the house isn't spotless.
Recently, I have been bringing him to the pool everyday. By the fourth day, he started loving it. As of now, one of my fondest memories is his laugh after I throw him into the air and catch him in the water - and the way he signs 'more', bringing both hands semi-flattened together in front of him.
So, within the last three months, Vincent has had another two hair cuts (and needs another one soon), and has three pairs of over-used sneakers. His favorite foods are: cheese quesadillas, pop-corn, mom's egg salad, avocados, bananas, yogurt, chicken nuggets and cheese puffs. He is not as shy as before and secretly loves attention (don't tell him I told you that). And he now recognizes and adores his girlfriend, Cate:

It goes by so quick. Keep posting. You think you'll remember all this, but you don't. I can't even tell you what my kids favorite foods used to be anymore. Talk about sad.
