When Vincent was about three weeks old, Kim and I had a wonderful time baby clothes shopping. It was my first opportunity to shop for little boy outfits instead of gender-neutral green and yellow onsies. We rummaged through all of the little boy clothes; holding up shirts with trucks and puppy dogs, blue jeans and sneakers, "Isn't this one adorable?...how cute! and only seven bucks!"
"Sweet!"
Now why is it that I have to shop at the Big N' Tall and Ill-Proportioned store to find clothes that fit me properly but a simple seven dollar infant outfit that clearly says, "0-3 Months" seems to be made for freakishly large babies? I thought our baby was perfect, no? He is now 9 weeks old and all of the outfits I chose with careful thought and purchased with excitement are still too big.
I realize it's amusing that I complain about this now; I know one day I'll buy him a pair of shoes only to find out his feet have grown from the time we left the store. For now, he doesn't mind the over-sized clothing as much as momma:
Edwin and I are now at the point where we can see why you would want another one of these. Vincent is starting to interact with us much more lately. The sounds from our living room are slowly changing from Edwin and I saying, "oops, spit-up" or "feeding time, can you?" between intermittent silence, to sounds of laughter when he smiles or jibber-jabber coming from the play-gym on the floor. Now when I caress his belly and make zippity sounds he smiles and I wait with anticipation for his first laugh. Not yet, but almost. When Daddy gets home from work, looks at Peanut and asks how his day was, Vincent either gives him a look like, "The help you've got goin' on here is completely overpaid" or "why don't you check my diaper and find out?"
He's a jokester, that one.
