1st Haircut

Today, Grandpa offered to take Vincent to his first haircut. Vincent's hair has been his trademark and I was kind of anxious as to how he would look and more importantly how he would be able to sit still. But I knew he needed one: his hair was beginning to cover his eyes and I was constantly pulling it behind his ears. It was wonderful to drive up to the barber shop and see Grandpa and Nanna waiting to witness the event. I still can't believe it's been over a year since our beautiful baby was born. And now, he was going to lose his baby curls and become a toddler!

I thought is was great that we could take him to the 'barber shop'; the same place Grandpa gets his hair cut. The barber, Willie, did an excellent job and knew all the tricks of cutting a youngster's hair. The moment Vincent started fussing Willie said, "Does he like lollipops?"

"I dunno, he's never had a lollipop"

Next thing you know Grandpa and Nanna are picking out the perfect flavor from the lollipop jar. We handed it to Vincent and he acted like he had won some sort of prize, "Round like a wheel and sugary goodness?" He was in heaven. From then on, Edwin held the lollipop while Vincent contorted his body to lean towards the sugar.

I knew Vincent had a head full of hair, but I had no idea exactly how much. I was full of clippings, he was full of clippings..and all the while he loved his lollipop.

What a handsome young man!
